COMMERCIAL FARM TRIAL IN NORTHERN IRELAND

The effect of pHix-up on milk production and quality was tested on a dairy farm in Northern Ireland, by comparing the production of 80 dairy cows before (AcidBuf) and after the introduction of pHix-up. The cows were fed a Total Mixed ration (TMR) composed of 54.2% concentrate, containing 16.7% starch and 47.1% DM* of NDF**.

Average milk production was 33.5 kg/cow/day, for cows receiving a ration supplemented with 123g/cow/day of AcidBuf. This buffer was replaced by 75g/cow/day of pHix-up, while the ration remained unchanged.

The addition of pHix-up to the ration stabilized the ruminal pH, which improved the intraruminal parameters of the microflora.

Regarding milk production, an average increase of 1.0kg was recorded, with 30g more total fat content and 40g more total protein with the use of pHix-up in the ration.
