TEST ON A COMMERCIAL FARM IN CHILE

The effect of pHix-up on milk production and quality was tested in a dairy farm in Chile, comparing the production of 480 dairy cows divided into 2 groups. The cows received a Total Mixed Ration (TMR) composed of 50% concentrate, containing 33% starch and 26.4% DM* of NDF**.

The first group received a buffer solution composed of sodium sesquicarbonate and magnesium oxide (300g/cow/day and 50g/cow/day, respectively), producing on average 43.3kg/cow/day of milk.

The second group received 125g/cow/day of pHix-up, replacing the previous products, while the rest of the ration remained unchanged.

The addition of pHix-up to the ration stabilized the ruminal pH, as shown by the decrease in time spent with pH below 5.8 and 5.5, allowing for improvement in the intraruminal microflora parameters.

Regarding milk production, the supplemented group experienced an average increase of 2.4kg, with 30g more total fat and 50g more total protein, when using pHix-up in the ration.
