TEST ON A COMMERCIAL FARM IN THE NETHERLANDS

The effect of pHix-up on milk production and quality was tested on a dairy farm in the Netherlands by comparing the production of 238 dairy cows before and after the introduction of pHix-up. The cows were fed a Total Mixed Ration (TMR) consisting of 40% concentrate, containing 23% starch and 28.5% DM* of NDF**.

Average milk yield was recorded at 33.25 kg/day/cow, with a diet supplemented with sodium bicarbonate (100g/cow/day) and magnesium oxide (10g/day/cow). Sodium bicarbonate was replaced by 50g/cow/day of pHix-up, while the diet remained unchanged.

The addition of pHix-up to the diet stabilized ruminal pH, which led to better intraruminal parameters for the microflora.

In terms of milk production, an average increase of 3.93 kg was recorded, with an additional 170 g of total fat with pHix-up.
